hi, i recently built a pc - i used a old ocz 700w psu

to get to the point - windows wanted to install updates after i shutdown there was about 150+ updates so i let it run while i went and watched tv. i checked back sometime later to find the pc had gone off and smoke was coming from the rear of the computer, i disconnected the plug going to psu and the smoke cleared within a couple of seconds. i booted the pc up this morning and everything seems ok, but before it booted into windows i got a strange message on the post screen that i could not read, like somekind of hylicgraphics very strange it required me to press a key on keyboard to go into windows

then windows said it was configuring updates only to get to 15% then fail and it restarted then it went back to the boot screen with the funny hylicgraphics again and i was required to press a key on keyboard again to go into windows.

everything is up and running like it should now but im a bit worried this could be a on going problem

and when i say smoke it was grey smoke, i have no idea if its psu, motherboard processor etc...

specs

msi 970a-g43 mobo

Yeah as said stop using it, check for burn signs then test each component to see were the problem lies.

Hopefully its just one thing. I had smoke out of a old pc. In the end I had to build a new one as everything starting failing soon after, PSU first then mobo :( Was a good excuse for new shiny parts though.
