Hi all,

I bought the following around 5 years ago including heat alarms and carbon monoxide. They were mains powered and interlinked to meet Scotlands new rules.

-790MRL - BRK 790MRL 10 Year Mains Powered Heat Alarms

They have all started to fail slowly (mostly the internal soldered batteries).

So I want to look at replacements and wondered if anyone had any recommendations as BRK have pulled out of the UK mostly. So I need to replace all of them.

I have a smart home via Home Assistant so if they can be added all the better but not essential.

Any recommendations are appreciated.

Cheers

Have Aico Ei146E, had them for 10years before, but then needed replacement, so went for the same, albeit newer model.
Never had any problems with them.

Don't know if they will connect to HA, I guess not.

If you don't have a wire connection between the two, pretty sure they do a wireless connection module.

They do indeed, but it's fairly expensive. The nice thing about Aico is they've kept their mounting plate the same so swapping is super easy.
Haha, when I swapped mine, the old plate was so yellow, I couldn't leave it like that, so had to change it.
But yes, the idea is there.

I recently replaced our BRK 670MBX because it was a complete POS. It kept going off even after I swapped out the backup 9v battery, and in turn it would set off another linked alarm of a different make in our kitchen. Both alarms came with our new build and the BRK as you know now is outdated hugely.

I recently purchased an X-Sense XPOA-SR1 unit during Black Friday. I had already fully removed the BRK and its older backplate, and tucked the electrical wiring for it above ceiling level whilst removing the wire link. Fitting the X-Sense took just 5mins and has a battery you can easily replace compared to the fake 5/10yr rated ones which are anything but.
