Something bad enough for her to cause half a mile of road to be closed, many people lives disrupted and a waste of police/fire services? Very selfish of her in my opinion, much like people who jump in front of trains...

Selfish maybe, but still sad.

many bad things have happened to a lot of people in their life including me, but you don't see us going round threatening to set ourselves on fire in a petrol station. besides, she's in the office, she'll cook then probably* go out. :D

*probably being the key word :p

A local nutter round here once soaked herself in petrol in her car, then realised she had no matches or lighter. I realise its cruel to laugh, but i still did. I always wondered why she didn't use the cig lighter in the car?

Would be nicer if she would torch herself somewhere where it doesn't inconvenience others though.

Cumbustion of fuel depend on whether the amount is too rich or too lean to light. In the case of petrol, there is only a small percentage at either end of the scale where it won't light. Chances are that even hours after the incident, she is still a potential walking torch.

It is petrol vapour that burns so it really depends whether it is still evaporating, and while yes she probably will still be pretty flammable, it won't be as volatile as when she first decided to douse herself in it.
