Smooth Desktop zoom

One of the features I like to use on my Linux machine is the compiz enhanced desktop zoom.

Basically, if I hold down a key and scroll my mouse button the viewport zooms in and out smoothly. I imagine I'd like to use this a lot if if I eventually pick up a Macbook.

Is there an equivalent app that can do this for Mac?

Nice

If you use this feature, zoom in a tiny bit, a moment later, it'll zoom out by itself assuming that you mistakenly used it or did not zoom out all the way
