Smoother video playback on old PC?

Just wondering if anyone had any tips on how to get smoother video playback on things such as YouTube etc.

I've been trying to watch some drum video tutorials but because my PC is old I can't play the videos back smoothly so I don't get to see the fast hand action.

Specs -

P4 2.4Ghz
512MB Ram
Intel Onboard GFX

Windows XP

reduce your monitor resolution to 800x600. Adjust Windows to run in performance mode.

Have you tried fully buffering a clip first to check whether it's your connection or your machine's performance that is the issue? That's the first thing to rule out.

Yeah mate it buffers all the way without issue but is still choppy.

Make sure you have Flash 10.1 installed as it may offload some work to the gpu to aid in the decoding.

Flash 10.1 was installed already
