-smp 8 does nothing!

Having a bit of an issue with a client i've set up.

I've downloaded the SMP2 client, configured it and added -smp 8 to the arguments, however it still downloads a standard wu.

Rig is an i7 2600k new build.

Tried -bigadv as well with no luck

Any ideas?

I think i've fixed it, not entirely sure what it was.

1. Deleted everything and left just the exe.
2. Ran with -configonly and set up as above.
3. Closed cmd window.
4. Right clicked exe "Run as Admin" (even though i'm logged on as admin, not sure if this made any difference!)
5. Hey presto, downloaded a3 core and big wu.

I'm just doing some benchmarking with -smp 8 @ 3.4Ghz. Temps running around 45 degrees on air @ 100% CPU load (Naked pc components sat in an air conditioned lab - it's darned cold in there )

I'll then run bigadv after this wu and then repeat when I overclock from 3.6Ghz - 5Ghz just for the hell of it!

You only get bigadv bonus points after you fold 10 regular A3 WU's, plus you need to setup and put your passkey into the client (with -configonly)

Yeah, I did that a while ago thanks. I'm well past my 10 wus and using my passkey.

What does -smp 8 do? I just run mine on -smp -bigadv and size set to big. No other options changed.

By the way bigadv units arent always available, so you will still get normal smp stuff.

It just sets the number of cores to use. -smp on its own will default to using all available cores anyway. I'm going to try running two clients with -smp 4 to see what difference that makes if any out of interest.
