Now that I appear to have resolved the datafile corruption that myseriously afflicted both my SMP boxen causing aborted wus and lots of 'no points' I have got a nice 3028 wu on my Dual Xeon which is worth a whopping 1440 points

At approx 18min/frame I am looking at a ppd of 1150ish

SATA master - that's what I'm stuck with currently.

Is that a problem installing linux?

In my experience as long as you are using a distro with an active development, it will recognize most hardware.

I would be surprised if Ubuntu 6.10 is having issues.

What is your hardware etc.
