This weekend saw W T F Motorsports first outing in the SMRC Scottish Championships at Knockhill. We've entered a Corrado G60 Turbo in the Sports & Saloons and a 1975 Jensen Healey in the Classis Sports & Saloons for the 2012 Championships.

Was an eventful weekend which almost came to an early end when my Corrado popped a fuel line in the 3rd lap of practice showering the engine bay in fuel  Luckily, with the awesome help on hand from other competitors and my dad, we managed to get back up and running for the last practice session and made the two races on Sunday.

We've set up a Facebook page to provide updates, photos and videos (eventually) for the full season. Please have a look and like us at www.facebook.com/wtfmotorsport where there's also more info on the cars for those who are interested! I'll try my best to provide updates here too.

Some pictures from this weekend for starters:

Nice pics, how did you do in race? What sort of mods have been done to the Corrado? :)

My first ever time in competitive motorsport so getting the car home in once piece was like a win! It was also only the 3rd time I've ever driven the car so a massive learning curve for me. In the first race I was 10th out of 15 and managed to take 2 seconds off my PB which was pleasing. Second race it started to rain heavily just before the start and in the panic I forgot to drop my rear pressures and ended up comfortably last spending half the race sideways! All other competitiors had switched to wet tyres but my budget doesn't stretch that far!

The Corrado was originally built by JabbaSport. Brief Spec is:

Car No. 4 - VW Corrado Turbo
FWD - appx. 310 bhp

Engine: JabbaSport built VW 1800 bored out to 1900 and running an IHI VF23 Turbo, Scat 144mm H-Beam Rods, JE forged pistons, ported and gasflowed head with large inlet valves, custom piper camshaft and vernier pulley. JabbaSport exhaust manifold and downpipe. Full PipeWerx de-cat-back exhaust sytem, 440cc injectors on 3.5bar fuel rail pressure. Custom intercooler and radiator package from Pro-Alloy Motorsport.

Drivetrain: 5 speed 02J gearbox with Peloquin torque biasing differential.

Suspension: KW Competiton package with uprated ARB's all round.

Brakes: Front: Willwood Superlight 310mm. Rear: OEM.

Wheels: 16" x 7.5" Compomotive Race

Tyres: Yokohama A048R - Medium Compound

Race Preparation: by AF Noble & Sons, Penicuik.

Well, if you fancy a laugh you can see both cars running on Motors TV at 8pm this Thursday 3rd of May.

I'd like to point out at this stage that not dropping your tyre pressures and running semi-slicks after horrendous rain is not good, as I found out. Wet tyres are good, unless you're in a 500 bhp Westfield running full slicks and have the balls to finish the race, in 3rd. Quite impressive from that man.
