After much trouble getting WiFi calling enabled on o2 as I am moving to a property with no signal I found out you can't text over WiFi....

It's mainly for emergency elderly relative texts so cannot really have them installing extra apps for when they need to contact me.

Do I have any options? Google hasn't yielded much.

Cheers.

Thanks for the responses.

Just to clarify the house I am moving to has fine signal, except on the basement level, underground where I am :p so no network will receive coverage.

The Google messenger app doesn't appear to be what is needed as I don't have a computer in my bedroom for instance so can't check via a computer in there, I understand I can go online on the phone but don't believe there is a way to receive a text as a text etc? Also in Aeroplane mode with Wi-Fi enabled I can't send/receive anything on the app so don't think it's what i'm after.

Signal works in Aeroplane mode although I can't find an option to import my contacts and previous conversation history to make using that one app all that is needed? I may be missing something though. Also do other's need to use the signal app to send me a message that can be received via there?

Again appreciate the help. Seem's like an odd thing for o2 not to have as to me it seems kinda 'basic'.
