hhmmm....Phone just rang, 0845 number.

Pick it up, starts talking at me...

This is the BT SMS text delivery bla bla bla

Reads me a number that I didn't get time to write down and then it asks me to press 1 to listen etc.

Now, as soon as it asked me to press anything I just hung up, but was there any chance that was genuine and if so, how can I get back to it?

just ring 1471, the number will be there if its the last that rang.

Nothing wrong with it. Quite a useful service IMO
IIRC when you get a text to your landline then dial 1471 the number it gives is your house phone.

It rang again and I listened to the number it was from properly and its a mates number so im happy its legit now :p

its not good when you drunkely send hilarious insults to your mates house number instead of mobile and there parents hear them read out by a computer voice :o :p

when someone sends you a text to landlines it rings and then an automated voice says you have a text message waiting and iirc, you can listen to it that once, and then if you want to hear it after you have hung up, you have to pay.
