SMTP settigns

Hi

I want to setup email alerts on a non domain CCTV DVR. How can I make it use our SBS2011 server as an SMTP server.

From memory the settigns it needs are:-

SMTP SERVER:
USERNAME:
PASSWORD:
PORT:

Also just out of interest is it possible to use our exchange server as a SMTP server for an device outside of the network?

You need to create a new receiver connector but as its non domain it's advised to lock it down to the ip address of that host only.

Yes it is possible but without some safeguards it is potentially a very bad idea.

I wouldn't bother using one internally, if you have a gmail account you can just use gmail's SMTP sever for your own use.
