My company email uses a simple setting for sending and receiving email.
Incoming mail server (POP3) : mail.xxxx.com
Outgoing mail server (SMTP) : xxx.com
In more settings, Advanced, the outgoing server port is 25.
In most cases when working away, I can send email normally, without having to change the settings. But once in a while, I won't be able to send anything from a certain location.
From what I have gleaned (and I really don't know much), some server administrators block port 25, and this is probably why in certain locations I can't send mail. Is this correct? And if so, how can I get round the problem - would specifying a different outoing server port number fix the problem?
