i have a new sn25p and for some reson the firewire ports are not working. they are installed in xpsp2, ive removed and reinstalled the drivers but the device (ext hdd) doesnt register, yet works fine on usb2.

i cant find any bios setting to turn off and on the firewire ports, any ideas?

Check the device manager... there may be a problem (exclamation mark) with the firewire itself.

Failing that, check the connections on the motherboard (I recommend using the manual if you don't know your way around it) and reconnect the firewire.. I assume it's the rear firewire your using for this; otherwise take off the front fascia and reconnect the header for the firewire.

Sounds like its borked. I would suggest an RMA but if it's that new and it's under warranty just send it back and get a replacement :)

not happy as all my external drives run off firewire, anyone know if there really is a mobo jumper before i rip the thing apart?
