i posted this in Graphics section but thought i should put in here aswll.

i've just built my kids a shuttle (SN45G) with the graphics card (x1650pro 256mb) but cannot seem to be able to play any games , keep getting errors about direct3d not working , directX 9c is installed

have all the latest Nforce drivers for the shuttle and Catalyst drivers for the X1650.

is there a compatability issue with the older shuttles and newer gen g/cards?

or is there any work around to get them working together?

or do i have to get an older g/card?

i would be greatful for any advice

thanks

edit:

spec:
XP2400 (maybe slowest part)
2 x 512mb pc3200
40gig hdd
dvdrw
X1650pro 256mb(agp)

according to 3Dmark graphics has 512mb local memory and 246mb? agp memory

3D mark will not bench, got info from system page

Does a 6800 Ultra count as a 'newer-gen' card? I think the 6800 Ultra (256MB) was the last card I had in that Shuttle. Seemed to work fine, but then I put a 9800 Pro in it as I was shuffling my bits.

Also, I just replied to your email! :)

i think that was the last gen, and wish i had had bought that aswell as i noticed it was working ;)

looking like i'm gonna have to sell this x1650 and get a 6800 :( if there's no way round this problem

9 quid I sold it for! I couldn't find a single slot cooler and I couldn't be bothered fitting it :)
It'd ridiculous that you can't use that graphics card and you have to downgrade to the last card I used! Hopefully someone here will be able to help you. When I was thinking of keeping my Shuttles, I was gonna try and get one of those AGP 7900 cards, so I really didn't know of any compatibility issues :(
