Do shuttles develop heat issues after so many years? our sn45g turned itself off last night and a red light appeared on the motherboard, never seen this before in the four years we have owned it.

The cpu temps have gone very high, up in the mid 70's last night :(
I have been getting silly problems recently like the usb2.0 ports switching off, the radeon all in wonder card not working right and the shuttle card reader vanishing from the system. I have whipped the cover off and got any built up dust out but the ice fan is still working harder than it should

I also had to underclock the cpu, its a barton 2800... i know this cpu is a bit hot for this kinda setup but i never had issues before, the temps never rose above 55c until recently and that was at stock

might be worth checkin the temp of the southbridge too. i dont know if you can physically get a temp reading from software on this but on my old one after it died, the southbridge would get way to hot to even touch after a minute or so of being on. not sure if it was the same before it died or whether it happen after it died though

I havent bothered to sort this out yet, I will after the new year
its working ok-ish after underclocking the cpu from a 2800 down to a 2200. it still records ok so i will tear it all down and clean it out, ive been meaning to fit an 120mm fan with an adaptor, will this mod make any difference you reckon?

its a shame ocuk only keep the good posts in the archive as this has been done a fair few times in the day when the SN45G was one of the most top end shuttles around. it does work pretty well, and drops temps a fair few degrees compared to the normal ICE fan

people also found having a push pull config to work v.well too with one fan on the inside pushing and one on the outside sucking
