Recently bought a 4TB SN850x and noticed some "PCB discoloration".
Checked on the internet and a lot of these don't have this at all on PCB, it looks like discoloration or some kind of a glue residue or something similar.

Luckily I have found two reviews on YouTube and seems that they have this as well, you can check the images bellow.

This isn't anything to worry about, right, it might be just some kind of a residue of production process??

Probably correct assumption. Is yours discoloured in the same places as both of those?

You could get in touch with WD and the place of purchase to see if it will affect warranty, but think you will be ok.

Without chemical analysis there's no way to know exactly what it is but when I've seen similar discoloration on PCBs I've always assumed it's flux residue.

When wave soldering the temperature is meant to be high enough that it burns off the flux but i assume there are times when it's not or when the heat isn't uniform so it leaves a bit of flux behind.
