Run a Shuttle SN85G with an Athlon 2800, 1GB RAM, 250GB Seagate, DVD-ROM and a Hauppauge PVR-150 for my HTPC with MCE 2005.

I currently have a Radeon 9600 Pro and am considering an AGP 2600 Pro for Avivo HD playback.

They seem to tick all the boxes EXCEPT- power. The Shuttle has a wee 240PSU- do you think, playing back HD-DVD/Blu-Ray, would stress it too much with the above card?

I have a P4 Mobo, CPU, RAM and a 330w Seasonic PSU I can put in a HTPC case no worries, but I'd like to stick with my Shuttle. I have had it about 4 or 5 years and it's been top. I'm rather fond of the wee chap :D

I personally think it would struggle alll around even if the shuttle powered the new ATI card fully. Here is why.

In Feb this year I had a X360 HD-DVD drive connected to a 2GHz C2D shuttle with 2 Gb of Ram etc and an X1950. With the software available at the time (Power DVD Ultra and latest drivers) it still struggled pretty badly.

I know the 2600 takes away a lot of the decoding but I still believe the CPU has to do quite a bit (otherwise why would PDVD Ultra have a CPU check also)

It would be interesting to find out, but with the cost of the card, and PowerDVD Ultra being around £70 I seem to recall, its getting pretty expensive if it doesnt work (Im guessing you are going to use this software, or there may be other options now for this)

Thanks for the reply, Chief :)

I think what I'll do is get a 2600 Pro AGP and try it. If it doesn't work I can always add it to the old P4 or even a C2D set-up with an AGP board.
