My sn95G5V2 decided to have a fit last nite, which resulted in the motherboard frying, its definatly beyond repair.
I was wondering what motherboard size i should be looking for? BTX?
I was due to sell it and upgrade soon, so could anyone help me out with ideas for finding a replacement board, also, would a V3 board be able to be used inside the same case&with same PSU? thanks in advance.

actually, what exactly where the differences between sn95g5v2 & v3? cant seem to find it anywhere. Please help, im stuck without a pc, iv had to head to my parents for the weekend to try and sort it, im buggered without a decent pc to do my uni work on :(!

The SN95G5v2 used the nForce 3 Ultra chipset while the SN95G5v3 used nForce 3 250GB chipset.

The v3 is meant to have a better network integration, and complete support for the Socket 939 processor family. Were as the v2 has limited X2 support and E3/E4 stepping compatibility.

Need to read up about BOM (build order number, I think) version if you have a v2 before considering which processor to get.

youd be better biting the bullet and selling the cse/psu for a modder to play with youd be able to get a while shuttle for the price of a new mb from shuttle, because without a lot of faffing around your not going to fit anything else in it
youll get about £40 for the case psu judging by other people in the same boat if it had had the mobo intact you may have got £95 for it.
I wouldnt dwell too much on it and get another pc instead of trying to get this one sorted.
hth

bleh, utter BS! looks like ill be buying a replacement case/mobo/PSU then and selling the system on. the case is scratched looks quite used. and the front panel has a dent in it.. im sure a modder would only go and spray over or cut all that out though, i guess thats worth a try, same for PSU. Thanks anyways, bloody shuttles! sods!

I have a dead sn45g in my shed, it just upped and died on me one day so that left a useless pile of ****

I have now decided to build my own sff system using an aria and standard matx board, I wish shuttle werent so bullish about selling replacement motherboards but what can you do :(

they could easily monopolise the SFF motherboard market if they did sell them, i agree. Theres not really enough competition to warrant many decents mATXs, or to drive prices down. Im sure if average joe consumer knew mATX existed he/she would want a mATX pc instead of an ATX one, and would be willing to pay a little extra for one. One day hopefully SFF and mATX will be somewhat more popular, therefore a lot more competitive.

some crap ECS mobo i found on a competitors site, was finding it difficult sourcing a 939 AGP board with a nf3 chipset, duno why i bothered, chipset didnt end up mattering since windows died 2days after the rebuild. I couldnt be bothered formatting as i was due to sell the pc to a mate within a few weeks so figured id just wait till i did 1 big backup n format for him, and moved my stuff over to a c2d build. Iv delayed it a bit more now and running on a right dodgey windows install from ages ago. Waiting for vista to come out b4 i start building new rig
