Snake Eyes - G.I. Joe Origins

IIRC Snake-Eyes is a mask wearing, silent, heavily scared white guy - so calling this film, as great/awful as may turn out to be, an "Origins" will certainly be pushing how how much the vast majority of cash paying fans are willing to accept.
Even as a young Brit I still knew who Snake-Eyes was due to our "Action Force" toys, rather than US named G.I Joe, but I wouldn't call myself a fan in anyway so, as long as the film is good I'd consider watching it, but with the current climate around changing a characters race to appeal to minority demographics I really wonder if this particular race swap is worth the financial risk or will humanising Snake-Eyes this way potentially open the doors to a wider fanbase?

Was about to say this too as it isn't quite following the source material and was probably changed for diversity sake. He meant to be western but what made him unique..

Same grew up with these stories. Hope they do a good job plus they have the original creator of Snake-Eyes as on advisor.

There were comments about the lead saying he is not very good and comments of "get Ray Parks back" and I`m thinking huh ?

No his wife accidentally uploaded a personal photo to Instagram showing an intimate act then someone claiming to be his daughter put fake messages on saying he was an abusive father on Snapchat.
His wife then posted a statement apologising and confirming the family messages were faked. However by this time the internet rumour mongers were out in force and spread all sorts.
Didnt do his reputation any good but end of day he was an innocent bystander so to speak.
