This is big daddy Merkava, a buttercorn commonly referred to these days as "Merky Merky big snake" :p

Really chuffed at the moment, as we've had snake eggs before but they've never made it to hatching. Got 1 of the red colour above, and 6 of the grey/white.

(If anyone's seriously interested, we will be selling these off in about 6-8 weeks, depending on how well they do with their first few feeds.)

Heh, yep we're chuffed - they're quick little things at the moment when you get them out of their little tubs, they usually make a bee-line for the floor as they haven't learned to grip on yet :p

We've had the parents about 6 years, it was only 3 years ago we first saw them "at it" per se, both coiling up together rather intimately - was a bit unusual behaviour for 2 snakes we'd been told were female, so we split them up. Funny, some eggs turned up a few months later from Achilles....

They have a very hidden opening about 8/10ths of the way down their body, that opens up to lay eggs, and also can be probed (by a vet/pet shop) to determine what sex a snake is.

They'll eat 1 day old baby mice, dead ones - got 100 in the freezer at the moment :) Some of the babies seem a bit young to take the mouse's head, they seem to prefer the body as they can probably get it down easier without having to crush the skull.

Great pets ;)

Oh, and the rest of the menagerie includes 4 leopard geckos of various colours, 2 bearded dragons, 2 fire skinks, a 1 yearr old jungle corn snake... and a pair of seemingly boring kittehs.
