Snap, Crackle and Pop tampering with my X-Fi 5.1 USB

I recently bought a 5.1 USB Creative X-FI from OCUK. I've wired the front and rear outputs to seperate Hi-Fi systems at the front and rear of the room. For some reason, sometimes it pops really loudly. Anyone know what this might be.

I'm using a laptop.

What OS? It might be the dubious drivers that Creative released. Try looking for the Youpax ones. Or the ones written by Daniel K.

Didn't occur to me mate. Quite possibly that. I'll try those drivers if they work with W7?
