hi i recently snapped my 3.5mm jack in my laptop and so no sound emmits whatsoever. I have heard you can disable this somehow but not sure how. Basically I would like to know if it is possible to use my on board speakers even though I have the 3.5mm jack still inside. ps there is no way it is coming out I have tried the lot.

unfortunately i don't think this is a generic solution. it will only apply depending on the soundcard/driver combination you have. :(

for example, i have an audigy2 with a breakout box. this has a headphone socket and i can choose whether or not plugging in headphones cancels the main output..... this option is in the creative software and isn't a windows option.

have you tried the simple??......get a small metal pin of some kind, use a little superglue ...stick it to the headphone jack pin and by morning it will pull out

yeah it was me that posted the original thread lol still havent heard a thing outta my laptop ! its driving me insane :(

heh. my bro had the same problem. a good idea with the pin and superglue, he never thought of that. just went out to fenton and bought a new soundcard... might be the easy option?

Its a laptop. The only soundcards you can get are external USB. The only thing i can suggest myself is to open it up and have a look. You may be able to push it out from the inside.

sorry yes should have read that better, just for a note of interest, creative do a pci express laptop version of, soundcard..
if your lappy has that ability, would be another option at lest?
without invalidated warrenty if still in.

yeah i think im going to try and open the laptop, didnt want this thread to turn into the last would rather disable the headphone output...oh and theguy that sig is so crap it makes me laugh everytime i see it :p
