Hey guys,

Is it possible to save myspace songs from the integrated player locally, as .mp3? I know something similar is possible with youtube, but I've never had to do it with myspace before…

Is there some kind of stand alone app or plugin etc available?

It's for a couple of unsigned bands, with no copyrighted material before you start :)

Cheers!

I'm not sure it's possible with the new player they have. Can't you just download Audacity and tell it to record what's playing through your speakers and rip the track that way?

All material created is copyrighted unless stated otherwise.
Both bands are unsigned and are urging people to 'get their sounds out there!' so I don't see there being a problem from their perspective - they're encouraging it. I’m after the songs to give them to a mate who's a regional dj.

I know a few of the band members so I'll probably end up asking them to email me the tracks or something, I was just hoping for an easy shortcut ;)

Nice idea, but doesn't this pick up all the windows noises etc as well? I remember I mate giving me a cd with some tracks ripped from his pc and there were all sorts of windows sounds on there during playback :p

Also don't rip low quality MP3 files and expect them to be usable to a DJ. If the bands are serious about "getting their sound out there" they would provide high-quality files suitable for that purpose.

The firefox tamper data plugin is really useful for finding embedded media files. Just set the filter to .mp3 and your away!

Last time I wanted a song from myspace I just grabbed it from the firefox cache..
(about:cache if I remember correctly)...

The files are .mp3 but without any tags (such as band, track etc)

Orbit doesn't seem to work now with myspace mediaplayer, so I ended up using audacity and being extra careful to avoid making any other noises in windows whilst recording ;)

Well they would/should provide a download option then as many do.

Someone else mentioned that to me actually, but hasn't this option been removed from the myspace player now?

Neither outfit are organised enough yet to have their own website or separate track download facility, although a CD postal service is on the cards :)

I've got the tracks now anyway, thanks guys!

I think your right about not be able to download anything from the myspace player, I saw an artist using another site and linking to it from myspace, can't remember what site though now.
