SNES Mini Classic

Glad you guys managed to bag one.

I think I've gone a bit nuts, I'm so paranoid about not being able to get one or having the retailer screw me at the last minute I now have 5 pre-ordered from different stores.

Im going to preorder another one form nintendo just incase you can always sell em and know your not going to loose money.

I've just got one on preorder. Not that bothered if I don't get one. No nostalgia for the SNES as I had Master System and Mega Drive before the PlayStation arrived.

To be honest I'm inclined to spend the money on a Raspberry Pi, it'll be practically the same experience.

I'm in the same boat; this is more of a novelty the more I think on it. I'm contemplating setting up retropie on pi too!

How many of you preordering the SNES picked up a NES mini?

Just thinking how few times I've actually played on the NES, is a great little gadget but the tiny cables made using it a nightmare.

I finally picked up an extension cable which improves things a lot but even getting past that in reality I don't have the time for such difficult, unforgiving games. My rose-tinted memories are much more enjoyable.

I think games improved massively in the 16-bit era so am still keen to get my SNES but honestly I don't think I'll play it much which is quite sad.

I never got hold of the NES mini and can't bring myself to pay 3-4x the original price for one now.

I doubt I'd use it much either to be honest, same for the SNES but I want them more for nostalgia reasons and they're something I view as a collectable :)

I've got the Nes mini but Ieft it in the box as I know I won't play most of the games on it. But I fully intend on using the SNES because it was a big part of my youth and the games are spectacular. Yoshis Island is timeless.

I didn't buy a NES because like you the SNES is more my era. Can't wait to relive some memories on it :D

I got a NES after months of looking, i've not used it a great deal but i got it because it was my first console so i wanted pure nostalgia, i was very young when i had a NES and dont remember much of it apart from RC Pro AM, Turtles, ExicteBike and WWF Steel Cage, the SNES was much more my era and will get much more use, especially Donkey Kong as i dont own that.

I hope I do play it more, much as the NES formed an important part of my gaming childhood it was the Mega Drive and SNES that made the biggest impact.

I appreciate the hard work which went into NES and other games of that era and see how they regularly broke new ground but the systems within many seem deliberately obtuse, I just don't have the time or patience these days to continually bang my head against a difficult title.

I actually saw a NES Mini popped up on Amazon at 2am this week, I was up and ordered it but it was not due for delivery until 22nd?

Anyway, cancelled today due to

1 - risk of it being fake
2 - SNES is more my generation
3 - It was £140 and it will likely just sit there gathering dust

Aye; I'm immensely annoyed that I have somehow lost or misplaced my original NES. I recall buying the NES + Super Mario 3 bundle in 91 or 92 if I recall correctly from Dixon's for just £29.99 in Chelmsford!

The NES mini is selling for reasonable prices on ebay now.

I managed to get a SNES Mini direct from Nintendo, shortly after their stock e-mail came out. I've also bought a Raspberry Pi for retro gaming recently - I still have the original NES, SNES & N64, but the Pi takes up so little space.

interesting - what sort of prices have you seen it go for (in terms of 'reasonable')? Can still see some listed for £150 or so which I think is a bit excessive.

there are also some obvious fakes with 500 games for like £20 or so - on one hand maybe these will lessen demand and help the price to drop, on the other hand the fact that there are these obvious fakes out there also makes me worry slightly about trying to buy a genuine one and ending up with a fake. If the genuine ones come down to circa £100 or a bit below that then I'd be tempted to buy one.

Does anyone know if there are fakes that aren't so obvious masquerading as genuine ones (like ripping off the official packaging too etc..) and if so, how to avoid them?

I've got one on pre-order from Tesco but now I'm kicking myself for not ordering two as it could make an awesome Christmas present and nice surprise for someone I know who likely won't have heard about it being released etc.. I think Argos is potentially going to release some more so I might try to grab a second from there.

I looked when the SNES Mini was announced, and there were plenty that had sold for between £70 - £90 - so I see £70 as reasonable considering the original price was £60, if I remember rightly. If you received a fake one that claimed to be official, ebay would refund it if the seller refused to.

I think there were a second batch of NES Mini's? As Nintendo have said stock issues with the SNES Mini will be better, hopefully they'll release some more. Are you signed up for Nintendo's e-mail list? They'll send out a stock alert, and you can get stock alerts from Amazon too.
