Sniper M5 PCIe Q

Hi,

Ive got one of these,

My GTX780 covers the PCI x1 slot and I have read (rightly or wrongly) that my wifi card can be used in a PCIe x16 slot, of which there is one available.

However, when I put the wifi card in this slot I cant boot up and get a '15' error code on the mobo .

Any suggestions, thanks !

Have you got the latest BIOS on the board? think its F8a current at tweaktown forums.

Is the system overclocked? try resetting the BIOS back to defaults.

I got the latest F7 and flashed immediately. Ive mildly OC'd the CPU to 4.2, I don't see how this has any bearing on the PCI slots though ?

Code 15 says "pre memory north bridge initialisation"

Can you reseat the RAM or try other slots?

Is the RAM at stock?

Try a single stick of RAM and move it around the slots.

Yup, tried all that.. Its at stock and Ive done a bios reset to no avail.

And it's only giving this error with the Wireless card in place? it's fine without?

Yes, dead weird ... Just updated to F8a too, no different.

Is there an option to change PCI-E gen in the BIOS, switch it to 2.0?

Random idea I know.

If there is a switch in bios to 2.0 I can't find it ... Any other suggestions ?

Press F2 to bring up the old BIOS, then go to M.I.T, the miscellaneous settings, then PCie slot configuration.

It should be there, the options are Gen1, 2 or 3

Any more suggestions on this please, would be grateful. I'm close to sending it back otherwise, because my wifi card is useless.

I don't, but it maybe easier to change wifi card surely?
