Google throws up conflicting advice, so no doubt tolien or someone else here will be able to give me a straight answer.

Whilst I am away from my house in Nottingham I want to observe the usage of my connection. My router as you probably know is working and when I'm there have PRTG setup perfectly logging all of the data. The settings are at their default. ie. 161, public etc.

So, how hard is it to set up PRTG to log data remotely from another net connection? Is it even possible? Ta.

I thought so too. I whacked in the wan IP and it couldn't locate it. I can, however, login to my router remotely and do most other things.
