Banned on safety grounds apparently, the ban will come into effect in July.

Good decision for me, at the way footballers are going they'd have looked like ballerinas in another decade. :p

It's just been reported on Football Focus I can't find a link yet.

It's a bit of a silly thing to ban, sure they look stupid but it's hardly a safety issue or at least no more than someone wearing a necklace - same logic applies. If they want to ban them just because they look daft then that's different but where does it stop?

Necklaces are banned aren't they?

I've just checked the FA Handbook and searched for "necklace" which returns no matches, "neck" only contains references to shirt design. It's sensible not to wear necklaces or any other sort of jewellery when doing sports generally but I've rarely heard of footballers being accused of having too much sense. You may well be right though as maybe it's just an accepted guideline that clubs implement.

In case you want to check the handbook for something I might have missed then the PDF is here.

I'm pretty sure jewellery is not allowed.

Banning snoods is great as they just look silly. The safety risk is minimal (although it does exist) but the main thing is that they are no more. :)

Quick release snood with velcro, job done.

Not unless someone grabs it at exactly the point the two ends overlap.

I think they should have been banned ages ago, yeah they look a bit girly but they are also a safety hazard and could cause serious injury - accidentally or intentionally. I'm surprised they have lasted this long.

For the record, blokes don't wear necklaces, they wear chains around their neck, there's a distinct difference, and they are rightfully banned too along with rings, watches or anything that could cause an injury to the wearer or other people.
