hi guys, the snooker on tv has prompted me to get a table (always wanted one!) however space and money are both issues. I was thinking of a 6ft table and when i move out and get my own place i'll have to find one i can put a full size table in!

Anyway i was wondering if any of you have one of these 6ft tables and are they any good? not looking to play hardcore snooker, just mainly for a laugh and to get a bit better.

thanks

Personally, I wouldn't waste my time/money on getting a table for yourself.

Invest in a nice a cue and club membership. Places like Rileys are cheap and really aren't that bad.

As above...

Not worth getting a tiny table, they're rubbish and wobble.

A 6ft table is a waste of time for snooker, it doesnt teach you the game at all. I became excellent on an old 6ft table i had as a child, yet am completely rubbish on a full size.

Join a club, or get a HUGE room!

ok i see that the general consensus is that they are rubbish for getting better on! but how are they for just a laugh?
i will have to find a club and buy a cue if i want to get good, so that side of things is covered.

thanks for the replies so far

If you want a table just for messing about on at home then get one alongside a set of pool balls :) They arnt really big enough for a good game of snooker, but pool can be a laugh.

You have 2 options, either get a nice ex pub pool table with slate base from ebay, or get a wooden base one from a place like argos. The wooden one wont last that long before it warps, but they are light and you can store it away when needed etc. If you have the space then get an ex pub pool table.

As above really, we had a 6ft table for years and it's nothing like a proper table, practicing is hard due to the pocket/ball sizes being different, cloths and generally different the tables play compared to full sized ones. If your only interest is snooker than join a club and go down to practice, most clubs also have tournaments that are always a good laugh for joining in.

If though you have a room thats about 17ft long x 14ft wide get a proper pool table (7ft x 4ft), much more sensible than snooker and a good table can be had for about £500-£1000, I'm sure there would be a pool league locally and it's a fair bit more social than snooker leagues I found.

Get a table in the garage? You dont really wanna go below 3/4 if possible.

Or go for a full size pool table and invest in some snooker balls. Will be 8ft.

Anyone got a 12ft table in their house? Pics if so!

I've always, always wanted a 12ft table of my own. One day:)

Been playing pool and snooker for around 13-14 years

Thers no point in having a snooker table in ones home

I used to have a membership at rileys - challenge any1 and you will get better ;)

Or if you wish to get better at pool, get down to the local pub and challenge the frist drunk you see and progress from there :D

unfortunately the garage is full of rubbish!! and whenever it gets cleared it is for a car :( but hey, i think i'll just go with a cheap old 6ft one for messing about on at home, and join a club and buy a proper cue to get better at the game.

thanks for the help guys :)

Full size pool table is 7ft by 4ft.

Edit: Picture of my Pool room/Table, soon to have Sky sports and the bar added!
