I'm getting awful download speeds, I can only guess it's being hit hard.

Maxing out my connection here.. 1.7MB/s. Guess it varies. Thanks for the heads up Feek :)

All installed, although the patching and restart took a long time to "restart" whilst sitting at a blue screen. Completed by itself when left alone to it's own devices.

Mostly maxing out my connection here. Although i'm on 10.6.1 the download through software update is 499MB which is more than the combo update

It seems to be quick through Software Update but not getting the Combo - I'd just rather have the combo so I'll install it tomorrow.

whats the benefit for downloading the combo rather than using software update?

I've heard people blame problems with updates on doing the incremental update from the previous version whereas the combo contains all files modified since the initial release. So (for example) the 10.5.8 combo updater would work on any version from 10.5.0 thru 10.5.7 but the specific updater from 10.5.7 to 10.5.8 would obviously work on 10.5.7

It may or may not be true that it replaces rather than patches files. How accurate that statement is, I don't know.

I've had no issues doing it either way, apart from one update on Leopard which failed to restart my machine cleanly and I had to hard power reset it. I just feel happier using the combo.

Frustratingly, it's finished the download now but I have some video transcoding going on that's going to be running for another hour or so.

Shame there's no mention of wireless improvements, had nothing but problems with it since upgrading to Snow Leopard :( Installed it anyway so will wait and see if it continues...
