Hi

Going to install snow leopard onto my mac mini (1.82 Intel Core 2 Duo)but got a few quick questions.

a) How do I backup my bookmarks from Firefox?

b) Is there a way of backing up specific programs? Don't want to lose my copy of pages thats installed as mislaid the disk (though I can always use open office I suppose).

c) How do I backup my itunes library?

One other thing, whats better install over the existing os (tiger 10.4.1 in this case and one of the reasons I'm upgrading)or a complete wipe and start over?

Any other things to look out for? First time I've done a mac install, though have done windows a couple of times.

Cheers

You can in fact just do the install and snow leopard will automatically preserve your home folder, will all your files (and applications) and all your settings (so called archive and install, because it archives your stuff first, this is the default behaviour for snow leopard installs). Even so though, it would be wise to back up stuff to DVD or a portable hardisk/USB drive (just incase something goes wrong).

Some people might recommend that you do a full erase and install and then start from scratch. Then you would have to copy back your files that you had backed up. It depends if you have the time to do that. I did an upgrade from leopard to snow leopard and didn't start from scratch (I'm lazy). I have read that in theory it would lead to a faster feeling system if you did a full erase, but have not seen any benchmarks showing this.

The upgrade to Snow Leopard is effectively an archive and install anyway. Just run it and it'll do everything for you.
