Hi guys,

Was up in Newcastle for a few days visiting family and, amongst many frames shot during the 5 days I think this shot of my cousin is probably the best of the lot. I wonder whether it has the same impact when you don't know the person, though. Either way, it's one of the few shots where it came out 90% right straight out of the camera and needed very little tweaking.

PS. The snow was absolutely crazy that day - the ********** were huuuuge!

Comments and suggestions very welcome :)

Nice shot...I like it... looks cold though

Love it.

The simplicity, the composition, the subject, the expression...really really well done :)

Thank you all for the very kind comments - though really I think I was more lucky than skillful ;)

I was inside a covered pathway while I took the picture and initially he was just inside of the pathway too, avoiding the snow. Unfortunately that made him much darker than the background so I was going to tweak the curves afterwards, but then I thought to try him standing in the snow instead. Told you it was luck>skill :o

Nice!

Maybe a little crop on the left to centralise but I think I'm picking for the sake of it :)

I would say it was more skill than luck TBH - you took the first shot realised it didn't work then knew how to fix it. I've seen you taking photos in London remember - you know what you're doing :)

You're far too kind! :p If only I could churn out more shots like this more often... :D

I'm somewhat relieved to see that it's not just me who found that the shot just "works"... because I could imagine that knowing the person/people in the shot or not could make a big difference to how you perceive the image.

PS. I also realised later on that I had ISO500 at the time for no apparent reason. I only noticed later looking at 100% at the clothes... :o

It's a good pic i like it but to be honest i only came to see if there was a few geordies standing about in T shirts. :p
