SNR Margin oddity

Hi

I've noticed something slightly strange with my router (tried with both DG834G and Thomson 585v7).

If I unplug the ethernet cable, my SNR margin drops ~2dB... I thought this was something buggy about the DG834G but the Thomson behaves exactly the same.

It also doesn't matter if the PC is off or on either, it seems it's just the physical act of having the cable unplugged that drops the SNR.

Anyone come across this before?

Well when you're syncing with a 3dB margin yes, it could cause an issue.

I'm not worried about it, more interested in why. (Obviously it's interference of some sort).
