Hi guys,
When we first got MaxDSL from BT we could sync at about 3800kbps, but we ended up with our router connected to a rubbish extension so it could be near the computers. For this reason, the router used to drop out occasionally, and sometime around Christmas I found that our best sync speed was about 1800k.
Since downloading a utility called DMT which queries the router (Linksys WAG54GS) for information, I've discovered that our target SNR margin seems to have been reset to 15dB, and this is what's causing the slow syncs. My router allows me to override this setting, but only to a certain degree - current stats are downstream 2912k, attenuation 49dB, SNR margin 10dB. This seems to be the lowest SNR margin it will accept, but I think the line still has quite a lot left in it.
The router is now on a stable line and I want to get the target SNR reset to 6dB. Has anyone had any luck with persuading BT to reset this, or in having it change by itself?
