Just got myself a Speedtouch 585v6 and d/l DMT Tool - all very good but I've not a clue about where to start in terms of trying to improve my connection speed.

My line stats are given below if that helps...

Uptime: 4 days, 8:14:47
Modulation: G.992.1 Annex A
Bandwidth (Up/Down) [kbps/kbps]: 448 / 2,528
Data Transferred (Sent/Received) [MB/MB]: 18.93 / 92.47
Output Power (Up/Down) [dBm]: 12.0 / 18.0
Line Attenuation (Up/Down) [dB]: 29.5 / 51.0
SN Margin (Up/Down) [dB]: 20.0 / 9.5
Vendor ID (Local/Remote): TMMB / µ
Loss of Framing (Local/Remote): 0 / 0
Loss of Signal (Local/Remote): 0 / 0
Loss of Power (Local/Remote): 0 / 0
Loss of Link (Remote): 0
Error Seconds (Local/Remote): 72 / 0
FEC Errors (Up/Down): 486 / 205,982
CRC Errors (Up/Down): 154 / 117
HEC Errors (Up/Down): 100 / 106

Any help would be much appreciated

log into your router using the DMT tool

ip-add is 10.0.0.138

port 23

your username / pw for your router

then click modemoptions Tab

then you see loads of little boxes under modem options

check modify

then the top box 00=60

apply and resync

and go from there

test stability and keep an eye on them crc erros

OK, figured that out but what is a good sort of figure to aim for in terms of CRC errors, speed etc based on my line stats as I have no idea really what to expect.

So does reducing the SNR improve line speed?

in short yes. But remember the lower the snr the more likely you are to have disconnects

edit: your snr is currently 9.5... you can drop that down to about 6 and you shouldnt have any problems

This is interesting does the same information apply to ADSL2+?

Im on bulldogs 16 meg service, so ADSL2+, but were getting 2Meg performance. Now im not too sure on our run in period, but were synced at about 15000. Should we contact bulldog and ask them why were getting these speeds.

Done what you said and it resyncs with the same snr - 9.5dB

What am i doing wrong?

Found it but it is shaded out (and unchecked) when I select the modify button

Hmm, I'm stumped then as I've expended all my knowledge of the DMT tool. The option is selectable on my Speedtouch 780. Maybe it doesn't work with your model?

Hmm played about with it and I need to set modemoptions to 30 not 60 to get 6dB SNR - synced at 3.2Mbs so juts doing some logging to see what happens...
