I somewhat may have broken my 30 quid headset that had been going strong for a year or two... (picked up by the cup as I usually do and snap...) right ear now has no sound.

Now I'm tempted to go a bit more audiophile than 30 quid this time round... Not top end (unfortunately I don't have 150 quid to drop on a pair of headphones right this second...) but maybe up to 80ish~.

I'm looking for something that delivers a good all round range. But I'm no expert on such devices hence why I'm here seeking advice. xD Main uses will be gaming (mainly VoiP since I don't tend to have game music on unless it's single player) and listening to music/watching films. Any help appreciated :)

Oh built in mic would be good but suggestions of clip mics/whatever are welcome too.

Kingston HyperX Cloud. They get very good comments from people who usually find that headsets in the sub £100 category are generally rubbish.

If you don't have £130 or so to splash on headphones, they are seriously worth considering if the main use will be gaming.

Having a look around at reviews on the web. I'd say I probably listen to music slightly more than gaming (currently since I have no raids on WoW and am focused on my dissertation.. so musics almost always on).

clouds or creative aurvana live. I'd still bet the clouds are better than the CAL's for music too.

Seems clouds are extremely well recommended. So far they're ahead in the small selection I had come up with. Especially with your own recommendation :p

I got some Hyper X Clouds the other week, mainly to play Alien: Isolation but I've tested them with various things and they are pretty damn good for the price.

Presentation (box and accessories) was really good, and the fact you can detach the mic is also a nice feature.

Ordered the HyperX clouds about half an hour ago. :) Hoping they'll be here soonish (I'd imagine they won't take long to arrive :p) Shall see if they live up to the acclaim. Will be nice to no longer be stuck with just my left ear hearing things xD Cheers for the suggestions.

So just got these... And... my god... the quality... Of the packaging is amazing... The headphones themselves are so light... and the sound... is amazing... Possibly the best 60 quid I've ever spent on headphones :D

They are highly recommended for a reason. Sure there are headphones such as the DT770 and the K612 that are better, but they are at/nearly at double the price :p

For people that don't have £100+ to spend on headphone, the Cloud probably have around 80%-85% of the performance for nearly half the price :)

Yeah I can see why they are highly recommended! ahah. I was tempted originally to change the earcuffs from the leather ones... but I've decided against it.. hope my head doesn't suddenly have a growth spurt mind you.. They're as big as they go lmao. Kinda sad I didn't get any haribo :'( Thats like the bit I was looking forward to the most! :p

At least you weren't like me in my last order, I did get Haribo but the corner of its packaging was already riped open. I held it in my hand, thinking back and forth and eventually binned it for safety sake :(

Alas! What a waste of haribo! I suppose it would have been worse if all I had gotten was Haribo :p I have one query... The audio control box... Theres a button on the back... Whats it do? o.O

I'm not 100% sure since I don't actually own the Cloud, but I would guess it's probably the "mute/unmute" switch for the mic?

But theres a slide thing on the side too... I mean... Idm that theres no documentation... But they could at least tell me what the buttons for :c

Edit: I found the documentation online... Apparently it's a multi-function button... So I can use it to hangup/pause music on mobile devices... xD

This might be helpful to you (note that the Kingston HyperX Cloud is actually the Qpad QH-90 rebranded, but sold at a even lower price):

"Meanwhile, the supplied plastic in-line controller also has a soft touch coating, with a volume wheel on one side and microphone mute switch on the other. There's also a button to play and pause music when connected to an iPhone, for example, but the button is rather flimsy and got stuck a few times in use."

Aha. I edited a moment after I posted about the mute slider. ^.^ Thanks anyway.
