Hey

Just about to start building my new rig. I've gone for a DS4, e6300, Freezer 7 Pro and 2gb Geil pc5300.

Haven't done an Intel build in years. Anything I should watch out for with this combo? Any known problems etc?

Cheers

Plenty of threads here relating to conroe builds and that board, try the search..... saves answering anything thats been answered before.... ;)

Try go for the pc6400

I've already bought all the stuff! I don't think there is much noticable difference to be honest mate.

I have to say, the way you fit the heatsink with those little push in clippy things is awful. Much prefered the socket 939 way of doing it. Easier, and you could tell the connection was good.

So I'm up and running with Windows installed. Anyone wanna point me to a guide for overclocking my chip with this motherboard? Been a while since of done it!!

Also, CPU-z is showing my RAM timings to be 5 5 5 15. That shouldn't be should it?

You need to manually set the vdimm and timings with that ram. There should be a note about the SPD timings in the Geil box.

Overclocking is very straightforward. Basically, just raise the fsb as desired and then raise vcore when you need to. Your PC5300 ram should be ok at 1:1 up to 333fsb.

Currently running at 2695MHz. Idle at about 40, 47 under load. How does this sound? I think that is still with the slacker RAM timings though.
