Couple behind Baby P death named
Tracey Connelly and Steven Barker
Those convicted are likely to be given new identities upon release

The couple responsible for the death of 17-month-old Baby Peter have been named after a court anonymity order expired.

He died in Haringey, north London, in the care of his mother Tracey Connelly, 28, and her partner Steven Barker, 33.

So the judge has lifted a ban on hiding the identity of the killers, but on the flipside, they will be given new identities to protect them when released from prison. Is a prison sentence enough for a couple like this who terrorised the baby with their pet rotweiller.

Do they deserve to have their identities hidden or, like me, do you think that they should live the rest of their lives in fear, knowing that everyone knows that they are child killers. After all, they have shown no remorse in the murder of their own child, people like that deserve no protection in my opinion. give them the death sentence i say, an eye for an eye etc.

If ever there was a case for the death penalty, this was it. Can anyone give me a good reason why these three deserve their freedom again one day?

They don't and in all likelyhood will not be free again.

I wish I could believe that.

From wiki: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Baby_P#Conviction

Tracey Connelly was ordered to be held indefinitely, until "deemed no longer to be a risk to the public and in particular to small children", with a minimum term of five years. Steven Barker was sentenced to life imprisonment for the rape, with a minimum sentence of ten years, and a 12-year sentence for his role in the death of Peter, to run concurrently. Jason Owen was also jailed indefinitely and will serve at least three years.[19] The sentences were criticised as too lenient by the NSPCC's chief executive[20], and the Attorney General considered referring them to the Court of Appeal for review, [21] but concluded there was "no realistic prospect" of the Court of Appeal increasing the sentences.

There's nothing more innocent in this world than a child. These "people" abused that to the highest level. In cases like these the death penalty should be used.

I would say that it would be an easy way out for them but we all know that they will serve time (to whatever length) but if they can survive prison they will be released and live the rest of their lives protected.

Ironic that as parents your foremost function is one of protection, which they neglected but they get almost rewarded with it on the back end of their behaviour.

I think prison could be a short lived experience and tbh I hope they suffer.

Anyone see the resemblance?

They'll be given the same sort of protection that other infamous prisoners like Ian Huntley receive, I assume. Albeit that didn't prevent Huntley getting attacked.

There is no guarantee that prisoners won't be attacked short of being placed in solitary which rarely happens as I understand.

Peter Sutcliffe, Myra Hindley etc have attacked at some point.
