Just setup my new system,

Q9550
Asus P5Q-E
2x2gb Geil pc8500

All worked fine first time, ran prime95 to check it all ran fine, so stressing all 4 cores to 100%, Got the following temperatures:

Core0 - 50
Core1 - 49
Core2 - 45
Core3 - 50

Seems a bit high? And I'm wondering why theres such a large difference between core2 and the others?

Processor is currently at 333.29x8.5=2833MHz.

I havent touched anything on in the bios except for just disabling speedstep.

Should mention temperatures above are on hwmonitor and coretemp. The asus pc probe lists the cpu temperature at 36 which is puzzling..

Vcore is 1.09 and VID is 1.1875 if thats important..

So can someone tell me if theres something wrong here before i start trying to overclock it as this seems pretty high to me :(

Ah realtemp is noticably different, lists:
39, 39, 34, 40

I cant feel any heat in the fins of the heatsink at all though so I was wondering if perhaps i had screwed up installing the sink..

Are these temps reasonable or too high for full load?

Thanks

Those temps are great for full load,
even at idle those temps would be good.;)

Cheers mate :) Was hoping i didnt have to put the sink back on again while its all in the case :D

Another question for someone, I cant find my pci express freqency setting or clock sync setting in the bios of my P5Q-E. Can someone explain where it is please?

Did you buy the Q9550 from OcUK this week? If you did then can you tell us which revision/stepping it is (probably be either C1 or E0).

And PCI-E Freq should be in the overclocking menu with all the other frequencies and voltages.

Hi Cob,

Got everything bar the cpu/motherboard from ocuk.. Another site which offers free delivery for members of a certain forum had the board/cpu for a fair bit cheaper so i got them there..

Its C1 revision though. Heard the E0 isnt available till 20th August and I didnt want to wait :)

I REALLY cant find the pci settings.. Are they on every board or do some hardcode it to 100MHz/33%?

Edit: sigh ignore above about pci settings, found it.. Feel stupid now :)
