i just cant decide please help me lol..i was gonna get an i5 as thats what i remember people saying i should buy a few years ago..but then recently i see people on youitube say its terrible and buy AMD ryzen instead. I dont know what to do now i was so set on the i5 9600k it seemed so good to me but today I see a video on youtube saying not to buy it at all :(

i can get an i5 9600 for £260 or the 2600x for £200 or the 2700x for £315. I cant decide.. im retail paralyzed. (this site basically)

at moment i use a core2du laptop that shuts down after 1 hour due to heat. So anything will be a huge upgrade for me. i cant even look at 1080p60 videos . I feel more brand loyalty to Intel, so keep that in mind ( i trust them more and feel comfortable with their stuff i have a core2duo desktop too , which i cant use as it has no gpu anymore)

My plan for this pc is to finally be able to watch 1080p60 yt videos, play witcher 3, fallout 4, red dead 2, ff 15, gta 5 , dragon age 3, maybe mass effect Andromeda ( if i can get it free, i saw the bad reviews ), tomb raider games, wow battle for azeroth.

I dont stream, but maybe i will one day who knows ( No camera at moment or foreseeable future this pc will bankrupt me, but it has to be done). i do want to try something called yuzu ( switch emu) as i really wanna play new zelda too.

The gpu i decide on was 1070 ti, its the most expensive one i can afford its going for £380. the 1080 was £550. i dont see the point in paying £150 more for 150 more processors ONLy. But if i am wrong please tell me. oh i game at 2560x1600 30-60 fps.( i kept my dell 3001 monitor intact all these year it still works and i love it)

So with all this information i have given what do i do??? what do i buy.. ? Please help.

ryzen 2600 and the vega 56 deal for £300 with games is what i would go for at the moment. about the same performance as the i5 9600 and 1070ti for significantly less money.

That i5 is a great chip and will still come out on top for gaming but you won’t notice any difference in reality. I would also consider the Ryzen 2700x as it will give you two more cores and hyper threading but depending on your uses these may sit idle.

I’d deffo jump on the Vega 56 deal at the moment.

Go ryzen 2700x and vega 64. If your budget is being stretched then drop down to the 2600x with vega 64.

This is what i would do right now if buying new at that price point.

For reference i have a 9900k and 1080ti so theres no brand loyalty/fanboi-ism going on here.

Amd is the better choice in terms of performance per pound right now at the price point you are looking at. The Vega 64 offer with games is a great deal and will beat a 1070ti.

Plus going AMD means you can go with freesync monitors and avoid the gsync premium.

lol. commiserations then. want some lube to go with it too? :p

best value from AMD currently.

My basket at overclockers uk:
Total: £1,086.98 (includes shipping: £14.10)

for under £1000, swap the vega 64 for a vega 56.

intel can't come close

I'd definitely go the Ryzen/Vega route. I currently have an Intel i5 and GTX 1070. I will be upgrading to a 3000 series Ryzen and a 7nm AMD GPU next year.
