My ballistix 2 gig , One stick if faulty and has caused the following problems for me.
Stops me cd drive from reading files, reg errors, bsod and windows update from working.
When the naff stick is removed all is fine.
I never knew about stopping a cd rom from reading files, and the windows update, how weird.
Anyone had such silly things like this due to ram problems?.

Broken RAM really is gash.
Half the time you don't know about it, and it takes you a month to diagnose the problem. Best bet is run Memtest86 as soon as you think there may be a problem.

The problem with ram is everything goes through it at some point, so it can cause problems with anything.

PSU's are the same, everything is connected to them so a psu related problem can crop up in anything.

Whats really annoying about these faulty balistix sticks is they aren't cheapo no name ram, its expensive stuff that can normally be relied on not to cause problems, and yet people keep getting faulty sticks.

all is well

Crucial have send me new ram, same spec.
All runs a treat now.
Can't fault the rma system.
Wish more companies had a returns policy like Crucial.
10+ for service.
