Hey...

At the moment I am using MyBB as my forum, I mostly just did that to test the databases where allowing me to add stuff, and just to play around with a few things before I start the main design of my site.

Is it worth getting Vbulletin? I believe it retails at 100 dollars for a year, so is it worth the extra cost, or is it better to just go with the free MyBB?

If you plan to have a big forum, the price for vbulletin is nothing compared to the hassle it will save you over going with some of the free/cheaper competitors.

vB is by far the best - it works out better if you go for an owned license at $180 - you don't have to keep renewing it every year that way. phpBB/SMF are the best free alternatives I'd say, and through vB's Impex tool you can convert the database of these forums at a later stage so it's compativle with vB

Its going to cost me 45 for a year roughly... strangely I would rather pay that than actually "own" the thing forever, mostly because that way I can just pay it again assuming the free forums have not caught up to VB.

Also, I would rather have the latest version (basically, it would bug me if version 4 was out, and I was using 3 or something).

Over the next week or so, I guess I should start to figure out the colour scheme for my overall website and start to put it together, then look for moderators and other more fun aspects ;)
