Made my computer but it's not working

I'm changing this whole topic

Basically it won't install XP. Turn on the thing, tells me i have a geforce 7900, 256mb memory, then shows all my devices and stuff (one dvd drive is missing but has power, but that's not that important now, right?) and then it goes onto the bit where it says on this computer that works "Boot from disc"

On the other computer it just doesn't say it at all

Also I wasn't sure where to plug in the hard drive... I put it into the yellow plug where it fitted with the lowest number after SATA

The first time I booted it made an attempt at running XP but failed because of something to do with the hard drive but since then it hasn't shown the boot from disc bit... I had to reset after the hard drive message came up because nothing else I did worked

I don't have a clue what to do

Normally what you need to do is to screw the little brass stand-offs into the motherboard tray on the case then screw the motherboard onto the stand-offs. If that doesn't answer your question could you provide a picture by any chance?

Should be as easy as that, but did the stand-offs you're using come with the motherboard or case? You should be using the ones that came with the case.

Go into the bios and under standard or advanced cmos settings it should have a hard drive boot priority, or boot sequence in which you can specify for it to boot from cdrom drive first, then the HD you want windows on. Does the POST screen display your HD/cdrom ?

I've only got one monitor so I'll need to switch everything... But somewhere in the Bios the fact that my hard drive is 160gb is mentioned, which must mean it's being recognized, right? The DVD drive that works is also mentioned somewhere, but the other one isn't

They're on the same belt thing if that means anything
