Had some spare time over the weekend so got round to colour coding the interior of my '01 Rover 25 (1.4 litres of power).
Before:

Wood be gone!:

I think it looks a bit better. Only problem is I lost one of the sliders so in the process of finding a replacement.

silver "Plasti-kote" is one of the better paints to use for interiors, dont costa bomb like some interior paints use and is cheap enough from B&Q etc

Looks much better mate, nice job :). I've never been a fan of wood or wood effect even on really expensive cars, it just looks odd.

I don't like rovers, but that is more than a 100% improvement over the standard interior, great mod that mate :)

It polishes up nicely, hehe.

The way I did it...
1/ Keyed up the surface using 400 grit wet and dry paper.
2/ Cleaned the parts in warm soapy water and dried them.
3/ Two coats of standard Halfords grey primer, left to dry for about 12 hours near a radiator (wet 1200 grit sanding between coats)
4/ Two coats of Halfords Rover Platinum Silver paint (wet 1200 grit sanding between coats), same 12 hours drying
5/ Two coats of the clear lacquer
6/ Stick it back in the car

From my experience it takes a couple of weeks before you get a really good glossy finish, then it polishes up nicely.

Nice job, I have those sliders in my Honda :D Its just about to go the way of the dodo so I went out to see if they come off easy. I pulled it right off and it flew away into the dark recesses of the car so I got the one on the left more carefully, you can have it if you like.

That would be marvellous, I tried to prise the right one off and it ended up somewhere in the dashboard. :o Is your trust email the right one to use? Just noticed, you're in NJ and I'm in England which makes this a bit awkward for you. I'm sure I could find one much closer to home and save you the trouble.

No my location is off Copland, thankfully it was just a fictional movie. Just send me your addy and I'll post it tommorow most likely. Its the white one on the left of your pic.

Looks good mate. I did *** same with my Rover mk2 dash. Much better than wood!

Nice look Bug one, though Iam not sure about how slippy that pedal mat would be compared to a rubber mat

I just posted that heat control knob thing..
