...and I love it :)

V/1999 Ford Focus 1.6LX [AC]

Bought it a couple of weeks ago actually, hence it being a bit grubby, but only just thought to get a pic and show it off. Got it for £2995, was the best example I could find for that price (Dealer). Almost immaculate condition with 66K miles on it, only downside was the lack of service history, but I was happy as it was in such good condition and came with a full service and MOT. I have the details for the previous owners so I may try and chase up the history. HPI check showed no problems whatsoever.

It's everything I wanted...roomy, comfortable, not too gutless (Although clearly not an absolute speed demon). Also comes with aircon; someone told me that only a few LX models came with this. Insurance is a little high, but affordable and worth it in my eyes as I loved the car. Some will say that I paid a bit too much for it, but I was looking around at Fiestas with similar mileage for not a lot less and it just occurred to me that a Focus would get me a lot more for the money :)

It does have the odd squeak and a few signs of wear and tear, but hey, its 7 years old. Most importantly, its mine, and I bloody love it, even if I get called Dad by friends now :D

It's got a bigger engine than my Project/First car!! How dare you!! :p

Very well played though, Focuses are really good cars and should give you a lot of trouble free motoring :)

not bad at all for a first car, nice one :]

too right.

not so long ago (7 years) I had a 958cc 1985 renault 5 as my first car.

in fact...no i only have a 1996 ford mondeo.

what went wrong in my life. must have done something really bad :)

Whats the rear leg room like? A mate in 6th form has a focus and when i get in the back my knees are touching my chin :p dunno if it's because he has abnormally long legs or thats just the way they are

Seemed fairly decent and Im 6' but I have literally just sat in it to have a look. That said, no complaints from the people Ive given lifts so far. Probably more room behind the passenger as I have the drivers seat right back. On Friday though me and some friends are off on a booze cruise to France, and there will be 5 of us in it for a couple of hours, so Ill get them to let me know how comfy it is....best bet would to get my mate who's 6' 1" in the back but I think he might have already claimed the front :D Maybe you sat in a 3 door? Don't know if they are much smaller than the 5 door, if at all.

As for a trouble free motoring....I hope so. It already gone back to get a dodgy speedo sensor changed, but this is a common minor problem with Focuses (Foci?) apparently and it was sorted out under warranty with no problem. Apart from that and the odd rattle, its in good nick.

Great i bloody love focus's and am currently looking for one like you i have 3-4k to spend on one and am hunting one down, it too will be my first car. Im looking for the zetec model.

With a 4K price range you could probably do a lot better than I did.....perhaps go for a facelift one? Maybe even get hold of a new shape, if you really look around hard....maybe that's optimistic :)

Good little car though, I'm well pleased with it :)

3 door and 5 door ones are exactly the same size car.

Also yes the speedo sensor going is common, mine went half a year ago. :)

Everyone else has a Fiesta, the Focus has a nice capacious boot, more than big enough for our needs ;)

Saitrix....get it sorted? Or just learn to use the tachometer? :)

Got it sorted for £30 fitted from a friendly AA mechanic. :)

Edit - Do you want your engine to be a little bit louder when you power it? ;) If so open the bonnet, then look on the right hand side, you will see the airbox. Its the black box just above the battery. Now you may have a small box coming off the right hand side of it between the airbox and washer filler cap. If you have then you can do this. All you need to do is loosen the right hand 2 screws on the airbox, then pull the airbox up to ~45 degrees so you can slide the small black box out of the side of the airbox. This will now mean that there is a hole in the side of your airbox, but don't worry, it is on the unfiltered side of the airbox. Now down forget to tighten the screws back on the airbox and put it back into place. You will now find the engine sounds quite a bit nicer when you power it. It isn't too loud, but gives it a nice lower note to the engine.

Lol it isn't quite as loud as a cone filter but it just gives a nice little extra when powering it. It is no louder when you are just cruising along which is nice. One problem though, it makes you not want to change gear when you first do it. :p

lol. what is the box for then? If it's not gonna have an adverse affect I might try it, but I don't want to do it at the cost of worse fuel economy or anything.

I take it the circled box is the one you mean.
