Well i've been using AMD for a ling time, last intel was a P2 400, I'm a gamer so i went for the slower or of CPU with a hope of a 3ghz running speed.

Opted for the Geil as it was cheaper than the G.skill and as best i've read is still good stuff.

This is where i hope you'll tell me i'll see a decent improvement on my rig but will probably tell me i'll hardly see the difference  .

I Expect it will mainly be the new Gfx card which will give me the most benificial boost, in any test i've seen it almost 2x the speed of my current card...oh and is expected to last around 8 months untill the G80 cards get a little cheaper and more distributed, it's the only reason i have gone for what is probably more of a mid range card at the moment.

Opinions?

edit: oops forgot sig no longer contains specs, currently on...
AMD 3400+ (754)
Dfi Lanparty NF3 250GB
2GB G.Skill ZX 2-3-3-5 (oh well bye bye low latency... :( )
Gefore 6800 Ultra.

Good Rig!!

Would have spent a little less on the video card though.

I don't see any reason why u shouldn't get 3Ghz.

Good luck & enjoy!!! :) And make sure you come back and tell us the results.

CRAP!

i've just noticed that there is only 1 IDE on this board, i'm still using 2 x CD Drives + 2 IDE Hdd's... ummm...

think i'll have to ditch the internal 40gb drive i was using as a main drive (basically the O/s only for easy formatting) and just use the other internal 160Gb...

Edit: well i agreed to sell the old parts of my system (except the ram) for £150 so i could get me a new Sata drive at last....but i have no idea weather they need any drivers etc for installing.

S-ata should just work, did on my socket 939 epox board, my mates Gigabyte/Saphire/DFI etc. and was fine on the 775 Asus
