So I just got LFS S2, Anyone else still playing it?

Anyone here still playing it? I put off buying this year after year because I know it'd make me spend a tonne of cash, and waste loads of time playing it. Sadly both are true - I spent ages playing it when I should have been revising for an exam, and I'm looking to order an expensive wheel.

I'm enjoying it, and had a few games online, but obviously the learning curve is pretty steep - anyone play here as part of a league or anything? Anyone want to take me under their wing? ;)

EDIT: May as well chuck in a link for those not familiar with it:

Try the demo, you may be pleasantly surprised :]

Great game In my opinion. Just love sliding the LX6 around south city. I've been tempted to get the logitech G25 to go with this and GT legends/GTR2.

Don't play online that much but just go on it now and then for a blast to relieve some stress!

It's better than the likes of rfactor however It lacks the customization of rFactor which is the let down :)

I think it's brillint. It's great to play online to see if all the offline practice has paid off!

I also love to play online (dont bother offline) on the oval. It sounds boring but it's great, everyone has an understanding. They slipstream eachother on the straights then the one behind always overtakes on the inside ni the corner. Then the chap who is now 2nd does the same and overstakes on the next corner.

You get the whole pack doing this and it's just brilliant when you slipstream everyone and just make it to 1st on the last corner. :p

You need a proper car setup to be competative tho'. Ask for one in game. :)

Actually, I was meaning to ask about that. I asked for a setup, and someone I think sent me it, but it doesn't seem to have shown up with the other configs? Do I have to actively accept it or something?

Loving the game so far... just spent at least an hour working on cutting down my laptime, felt like 10 mins.

The feel is just dead on, being able to catch slides that I've messed up before is so satisfying!

I once sat a whole day on the same course in the same car trying to bring my lap time down, its addictive u just try and try lol and before you know it uve lost another day of your life lol and its even worse when you compare it to the experts who are always a second faster than me :( what wheel are you using?

I play a fair bit, and also compete in the STCC series that's ongoing at the moment.

You can learn a hell of a lot by spectating the faster guys, and the community as a whole will help you out as long as you're polite about it. It's probably worth asking some of the faster guys to send you their setups, but try not to ask in the middle of a race :)

If you bring the connection list up (default key 'n'), you will see a button labelled 'SS', this sends your setup to that racer. If you have been sent one, there will be a green 'S' to click, then you can name the setup and save it.

Blatant copy'n'paste of my post in another thread...

For good, close racing I would recommend the STCC tiered servers. You start off on the 'New and Bronze' in the XFG or UF1, and gain points with results. You get to drive the XRG when you reach Bronze Licensed status. When you reach Silver Licensed, you can go on the TBO and LRF class servers.

The system is designed to promote clean and fair racing, replays of people driving like tools can be submitted for steward/admin investigation. It works very well, and on the higher servers you will generally find a standard of racing that you only used to get in league events.

Ah, Bean0 I was lurking around your website/forums yesterday reading up actually ;) Thanks for the advice, I'll try it all out :)

Yeah, I had a quick go on the STCC servers, but sadly still a little too far off the pace - did have some fun races though. By watching a few replays I did pick up a few tips on how to improve my lap times and I've bringing them down - a long way to go though!

Now to loose all my money and get a G25 :S :D

Just picked up LFS myself, after having played the demo on and off for about 2 years. Plan on hitting the STCC servers and seeing how rubbish I am, might see you there :).

Nice, looks like a good few new users including myself. Seems like a lot of racing on those STCC servers to get the required points, I best get practicing :)

what wheel are you using?

Not got one yet.. but been thinking about a g25 last few days... :D

I've enjoyed the STCC servers even though I'm massively off the pace. This is to be expected with no wheel, no practice, and no playing anything of any kind last few months. But it's still fun! and I keep my nose clean :]

Anyone here who's using an g25, do you use the full shifter/clutch setup, or just the paddles? I imagine the former is more 'authentic' you're going to need to be doing that later to remain competitive?

The logitech G25's are brilliant. Got 2 of them due to double order from OC  and I was to lazy to send one back.

However the one I use is fantastic. Even my dad likes it :D
