Hey

So after many months of thinking i really need to do my trailer test as i buy a few cars time 2 time i finally passed my test yesterday and only got 4 minors out of 14 :)

The test itself is basically your driving test again but with a car trailer on the back. The test is 1hr 30mins, had to spend 30mins backing around cones etc then had to show you could un-couplin the trailer and re-couplin it back up then went driving for a hour and the examiner checks for speed control of your driving and also control of the trailer.

The cost was £613 for test and 5 hours training.. plus £150 for tow bar fitted. Bit of a money scam if you ask me as i just found it to be you driving test all over again

all in all rather happy :)

congrats, how hard was the training / test as i have considered doing it, i have used a small trailer with motor bikes on them and its a real pain when reversing as it almost always wants to jack knife.
a lot of people say its because of it being so light and short.

just to give you a idea what i was towing.. this was trailer for your test now it has to have weight in it. the trailer was 500kg but it had 1000kg of sand in the back.

I would not recommend doing your test without training as there is certain ways that things have to be done in order or you get a "serious" and could fail.

Yea small trailers and no good for backing up as once you see it in your mirror its gone in to jack knife stage and have to use a shunt to correct it

I used my car currently Gold gt tdi 150 max towing of 1800k and even with the trailer being 1500k its pulled it very well. could do with something better tho

Helps being an older person and passing my test pre-1997... Get BE (now B+E) automatically when you get your B category (car)

I think I got that with my C class. I hate taking driving tests.

Yep pretty sure you would have done not 100% sure though. Nice to know you passed. It is mad that if I want any other entitlement I'll have to take the test although if I get my CE like I wish too should get the majority of them :)

I did this in 2007 an old employer paid

3 day corse with the test on the third.

Like posted above they expect you to do things in a certsin way. The two days prior was just learing to drive like a learner again, I got 13 minors lol but the examiner faulted me on parts thst were not my fault but either way I passed

Well done op
