So I recently bought some 980s...

it will be a darn site cheaper than the £900 it is now and if the rumours of the 980ti just around the corner are true, thats gonna hurt :p

No, because I buy hardware to use now not to worry about what's coming in the future.

Life is too short to worry about what ifs, especially on something as daft as computer hardware.

Each to their own but I personally would not spend £900 on something as daft as a piece of computer hardware, we all know how quickly the tide turns in this world :)

Anyhow not here to argue about it, if you're happy then that is all that matters, me? I'll wait and see what the future brings in the next month or so.

Don't bother with Titan X it's so over priced it ain't funny. Only the super rich can afford or if you sell your soul... Those 980's in SLI are still killer cards. I have a single 980 and it plays everything just fine with my G-Sync swift 1440p. Titan X wont make it that much better tbh. what a extra £500 waste..

While the "new shiny" argument is valid and inevitable no matter what you buy, anyone buying in to 4K right now is going to suffer more with that problem, especially given the financial outlay. This discussion has come up many times before, but 4K is very much in its infancy and never-mind the Titan X, six months from now you will REALLY be kicking yourself with the 980Ti and better monitors available. If you've got the money and simply must be on the bleeding edge, go nuts, but 4K tech is really picking up the pace, so you'll be left behind in no time. That's just the way it is.

we are far away from true 4k 1ms 144hz..

so OP relax enjoy what you have and see what the 980 Ti brings if you get the itch

:)

£200 is better then £500 loss.

It's all relative but it just proves your argument makes no sense, most of us are paying more money for just a few extra frames per second. The performance gap between the Titan X and the 980 is bigger than the gap between the 970 and 980 though. Most 970's will hit stock 980 performance, barely any 980's will hit stock Titan X performance.

tbh mate you can justify your purchase all you want. I don't see the need to spend near a £1000 for something my overclocked 980 can nearly do is what you said makes no sense. unless you care more for the vram,

spend away. :D

Doesn't even come close to my clocked Titan X ;)

Good purchase, still a lot of enjoyment to be had out of the 980s.

Why are people so prissy about other peoples spend, really pathetic.

Agree. We all have the right to spend what we wish on whatever we wish, we earned it. Doesn't mean I agree the TX is great value, that doesn't matter as I will defend anyones right to spend their own money. Of course we all have our opinions, which again I defend the right to express, and will try and guide someone to the correct purchase if we can. I prefer to spend my earnings on holidays which the missus and I can enjoy together for instance. When it comes to 4K gaming though there is an assumption that you require to spend a fortune because you must have 120/144Hz and 1ms IPS screen. Actually you don't, you can be happy gaming at 3840X2160 @ 60Hz 1ms on a 10bit TN panel with 1 X R9 290 Msi Gaming and believe it or not there are decent games you can play, smoothly, and that's the biggie for me, smoothly! I don't care if its 50/40/30fps as long as its smooth. If others want to spend loads of their money buying the best of the best in order to get 120/144 etc fps and super IPS multi curved gsync/freesync whatever then power to them and their right to enjoy it. Please just remember those of us whom are not so demanding and accept WE TOO can enjoy gaming on less of a budget. :D

PS I am saving for a 390X and hoping it is 8Gb cuts it at 4K and is less than £500, nearer £400 would be better thanks. :D
