i want to chop bits of things and put them together with music. i need a proggie thats simple to use, dont worry about the cost of it (provided its not hundreds) im just looking for something thats going to be simple, and that I can do a few effects and fun things with.

cheers all.

I use Vegas 6c myself but it's abit over the top for what you need to do. Other's I use are Pinnacle 9 [great capture software ] and the one I would suggest you try as it's only about 50 or 60 quid and does a host of great things IS Serif Movie Plus 5 . This does everything and lots more , picture in picture ,overlays , has good transitions & effects and well worth the money. I bought version 4 last year ,it didn't write directly to DVD but that was no problem . I just saved as a mpeg and imported the file into Sonic DVD it .The new version I got recently [version 5 ] has the write software on a additional supplied disk .Well worth a try .

Adobe Premiere Elements will be good http://www.adobe.com/uk/products/premiereel/ you can get a 30 day trial, so if you edit your video quickly it won't cost you anything.

You could also try Avid Free DV, which is the free version of what the pros use for films, tv programs and adverts, it's not as user friendly as other programs though. http://www.avid.com/freedv/

I had a go at Vegas 6 but couldn't get along with, didn't like not having a source and output monitor side by side, although some of the effects it does are very good.

Movie maker does like to crash, its always worked for me if you want simple. Although you get used to it and know when and what makes it crash. The only other one i've used and liked was Adobe which had everything on it!
