Hey guys

Ive been surfing the forums and found next to nothing about this topic somehow. I guess im looking in the wrong places.

I dont want people trolling on this saying give up on life and stuff so please just productive answers.

I want to start building people custom pcs within the surrounding counties and provide a service you wouldnt get going though a normal company. I have my own ideas on what i just want people opinions on how i should go about advertisement and getting my name out there and getting known. And yes before you ask i have plenty experience building rigs and have a wide range of knowledge.

Again no negative feedback like i have had from other forums. Thanks

Wrong section and i doubt you will get much help from a company forum? Before you start make sure you know the basics of business and law without that you will definitely fail.

First you have to ask yourself, who would want to buy custom PCs, then you have to ask yourself where would they typically be looking to buy from, then you have to ask how do I get their attention based on what they'd be looking at.

Most likely you'll end up at the same conclusion as everyone else who's thought about doing this.

But, saying that if you want to try then fair play!

the problem building pcs for people has always been warranty

if something goes wrong ,they will come to you

you can send the parts back under warranty but your time for swapping them out is not covered

It's not just the time for swapping parts.

If anything goes wrong the purchaser will want the OP to pay for return shipping, expect them to diagnose and cure the problem, and then pay to ship the PC again.

I would honestly say that rather than build and sell PC's how about just a repair service?

Let people bring their computers to you and you do hardware/software upgrades and maybe if you think its best and they are willing to do it build them a new PC?

thanks for feed back. what some of you have said has made me think of a few things but i know about the things going and i have figured out a method that could deem me being the blame no be if you catch me drift? ill close this now as i dont wanna get flamed too much:D

ST I think making and selling them would be onerous, especially in the UK, look at the back up service Overclockers had to provide in order to adhere to UK law.

But I do think that there are a lot of people out there that need help with PC's - oldies and younger folk - if it was not for my IT mate I would have been stuck in the past - depending where you live a quality service like that may turn out to be a good business?

All the best

The kind of computers you are wanting to build for profit has a market who is essentially us, the computer literate who possesses the ability to build his own rig.

As a result companies, such as OCUK charge VERY little for this service (OCUK build and ship DPD next day for approx £50) assuming you undercut them by £10, assuming £18 for heavy next day, you'd be on £5 an hour. If you ever got any buisiness.

I tried it bud, apart from jealous thicker friends it can't really be done.

OCUK dont make money from building PCs, they make it from selling components they buy at prices you cannot get.
